Welcome to my blog, Option Explicit VBA. Unfortunately for you, I’m not very good at writing these about me sections – so I’ll try my best to be brief – although I’m also terrible with brevity. I live in Dayton, Ohio and started my own small business, Goldmeier Consulting. A lot of the work I do is in Excel, but I also do web development with jquery and asp.net. However, as you might imagine, the work I most enjoy is Excel development, because there’s so much you can do with Excel – and you can do it so quickly, too.
My goal with this blog is to write on experimental topics and applied examples. There are many good blogs out there that explain certain formulas in detail or how to use certain features in Excel. I’ve attempted these topics for this blog, but they’re never as good as others I’ve read (at least, in my opinion). So, with about 50 posts going now, I’ve learned I’m much better at writing about topics that I think are new. If I see something that hasn’t been written about before but appears as questions in forums, often I’ll take a crack at the subject.
I’m also writing a book about developing dashboards in Excel.
I have only one other hobby and it’s smoking, grilling, and bbq-ing meat. I love finding, preparing, and eating meat. Right now, I have two charcoal grills, one gas grill, and one smoker. I spend hours online looking at cuts of steak and expensive grills. My wife makes fun of me for it. If you’re interested in this subject, my favorite website and go-to resource on the topic is AmazingRibs.com.
If you’re a couchsurfer, or just find yourself in Dayton, let me know. We could grab a dinner or a beer and swap Excel techniques. If you have an idea you want to blog about for Option Explicit VBA, send your idea my way and I can make you a guest author. If you just want to say “hi,” feel free to contact me.
